Style Guide

Please note the following:

Be Bold

While contributing content to UStudy.IN, please be bold. Be Bold to add pages, type in information, submit comments and participate in the forum. UStudy.IN needs your contribution!

Use Simple English

Write using simple sentences. View wikipedia's article on Basic English and BE 850 Words.

Formatting

  • Do NOT use fonts - the default fonts are ok most of the time. Please limit formatting to bold, italics, underline, h1..3, font size etc. Chaning fonts breaks themes and will not be consitent with other material.
  • Capitalize only the first letter of the first word and the first letter of any proper nouns and leave all the other letters in lowercase. Example: "Rules and regulations" is correct, "Rules and Regulations" is not required.

Linking

  • Do make sure that the links in your page works. Try them.
  • Do not put links in headings.
  • Use Add Child Page link to create book pages. Or, create a book page from under create content link.
  • At the end of the article or page, include a section / paragraph listing links to external websites.

Copyright

Please respect copyright. Copyright law means that an you cannot pretend that you wrote / created something that was really wrote / created by another person.

Headings

  • Do not use special characters in headings.
  • Do not put links in headings. Instead, link the word or phrase in the paragraph below.
  • Keep the heading short. Try not to use more than ten words in the heading. Try not to use extra words in headings if they aren't needed, such as a, an, the etc.
  • Do not give the same title to different pages sections. This will confuse the reader.

Colors

Using color alone to convey information should not be done. It may break and be unattractive or invisible when the site's colors are changed. This is not helpful to people with color blindness, on black-and-white printouts, on older monitors with fewer colors or on monochrome displays, Cell_phones, etc.

If it is necessary to use colors, use a <div class="messages status"> </div> block. Here is an example: 

This is an example text in multiple colors. This too might have problems, but to a lot lesser extent.
